Wow, there have certainly been a lot of changes going on in Hope’s teen group, Flock of Faith. I would like to take a moment and bring the congregation up to speed on our new and exciting ventures.

With much thought and prayer, Ben and I decided, with God’s guidance, we would lead the teens. After several years Kyle and Lynn Laag were ready to pass on the reins. We hope that God would continue to guide us and bless us in our endeavors with this group. We are having a great time and getting to know each of the teens. It has been great so far! We ook forward to growing in our faith along with the teens.

We are using a new format in our Flock of Faith meetings. We begin with a study session, followed with time to socialize and/or be entertained, and end with a round table discussion.

I would like to tell everyone a little bit about each of these sessions. We are reviewing hot topics for teenagers (music, fashion, school, etc). The teens are learning in each session how to identify what would be the most pleasing attitude toward Christ. They seem to really enjoy this, and we have certainly heard some interesting answers!

We have given the teens the opportunity to socialize during the meetings. Since most of our teens are from different schools, we wanted to give them all time to bond. This gets the teens comfortable with each other and allows time to have some fun!

After socializing we have a round table discussion. This provides us the opportunity to review any hot topics going on in their lives. We also discuss issues, concerns, questions or problems the teens are currently having. This has been a great place for the teens to talk and get advice from each other in a Christian atmosphere.

Flock of Faith has also started a new and improved fund raising venture. We are collecting used cell phones, ink jet cartridges and laser jet cartridges. We send these to a company that provides Flock of Faith with money for things most people throw away! What a great blessing this has been. When we spoke with the Flock about what they would like to buy with thismoney, they decided on two things: a ping pong table and a community project. They want to have something to have fun with AND give back to the community! Whata great thing to see these teenagers wanting to give back.

We have many exciting adventures coming up for the Flock of Faith. This includes paint ball, canoeing, flag football, camping, lake trips and many many more! Look for updates in the bulletins on the status of all of this!
