A New Year…A New Night for Weeknight Bible Study at Hope

Plans are taking shape to move the current Monday Night Men’s & Women’s Bible studies to Wednesday evenings beginning in January 2012.

By moving these study sessions to Wednesday evenings, we’re working to make use of streaming bible studies broadcast via the internet by various WELS pastors and professors.  A schedule of presenters and topics for 2012 is currently being developed.  On those Wednesdays when there is no streaming bible study scheduled, Pastor Zahn will lead the bible study.

During the weeks of Lent, Wednesday evening worship will take the place of the Wednesday night Bible studies.  Hopefully the consistency of having a Wednesday night gathering at Hope throughout the year proves to be beneficial for increasing participation in both the bible study sessions as well as Lenten midweek worship services.

The proposed format will also enable us to retain opportunities to retain a measure of the single-gender study format through the use of breakout/discussion groups.

The tentative format is as follows:

7-7:15PM: Fellowship/friendship time

7:15-7:30PM: Group Prayer

7:30-8PM: Presentation to Full Group (streaming online or Pastor Zahn)

8PM-8:30PM: Single-Gender Breakout/Discussion Groups

8:30-9PM: Wrap Up with the Full Group

An additional thought: utilizing the online, streaming bible studies would also enable Hope members who live further away from the church property to consider meeting in one another’s homes for small group bible studies.  Talk with Pastor Zahn if this is something you’d be interested in helping host at your home.

(All members are also welcome to participate from their own homes too when the bible studies are being streamed.)
