The Story continues!

Initial response to The Story worship and study series has been terrific.  Several people have commented how much they’re appreciating the opportunity to better understand God’s “big picture” plans through this effort.  Others have expressed how much they’re enjoying the opportunity study through the bible’s stories as a family in worship, in Sunday school, and throughout the week in their homes.  Hope’s midweek Bible study has also experienced a surge of participation as we get a chance to discuss each chapter of The Story in breakout discussion groups.  Clearly there is a hunger at Hope to dig in to God’s Word and grow in our understanding of it from cover to cover!  To whet your appetite for what’s up ahead, here are the stories we’ll be covering in February:

Sunday, February 5: New Commands and New Covenant – God gives the 10 Commandments and the ceremonial and civil laws to the Israelites at Mount Sinai.

Sunday, February 12:  Wandering in the Wilderness – For 40 years God sustains his people in the wilderness, preparing them for entry into the Promised Land.

Sunday, February 19: The Battle Begins – Under the leadership of Joshua, the people of Israel march into the land of Canaan and begin the fight to regain the land God had promised them through Abraham.

Sunday, February 26: A Few Good Men … and Women – After the death of Joshua the people of Israel are led and governed by several different “judges.”  Stories of terrible disobedience and great victories fill this time period.
